Therapeutic Mission:

I am deeply committed to the belief that therapy becomes truly transformative when a strong alliance is established between therapist and client. This bond is rooted in a shared understanding of their goals and serves to highlight the client's existing strengths.

Fun Facts About Me:

  • I am a chaotic gardener with mixed success.

  • I am a really good singer alone in my car.

  • I love old school roller skating rinks.

Heather is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker currently working in a specialized academic setting with adolescents. She graduated from Boston School of Social Work and has over twenty years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families in the nonprofit sector.  At Carson Valley Children's Aid, she expanded the Women's Voices Healthy Choices outreach program for pregnant women experiencing substance use to three area hospitals; and has given educational workshops on this topic to a number of organizations. She was the acting Clinical Director of their Family Based Services for several years and has been a Field Supervisor for Bryn Mawr School of Social Work and other local colleges for over 15 years, mentoring Master’s level students, as well as supervising newly graduated professionals at the Renfrew Center.  She has a degree in World Religion from Harvard Divinity School and an ongoing interest in how mindfulness impacts mental health. She served as a Board Member, then Chair, of the Charlestown Playhouse, a nonprofit cooperative preschool for four years.  She is also an avid animal lover and chaotic gardener.

I take great pleasure in working with women navigating significant transitions in their lives. This includes exploring intimate relationships, making career decisions, tackling the challenges of parenthood, reassessing substance use and self-care, and understanding how their identity evolves through these stages. I believe that women often possess an inherent wisdom in how they engage with and nurture others. My focus is on helping women recognize their aspirational selves and utilize the tools they already possess to achieve their goals.

Additionally, I am deeply passionate about supporting parents, particularly in helping them become the kind of caregivers they aspire to be. My aim is to create a nurturing environment where struggling caregivers can use their moments of vulnerability in therapy to strengthen family relationships, especially when they feel unsupported by their surroundings.

My third passion lies in guiding individuals who are courageously pursuing recovery. People in early sobriety often grapple with shame, guilt, and the challenge of defining an identity beyond their addiction. I provide an additional layer of support for those who have been sober for 30-60 days and are involved in recovery or peer support groups. Collaborating with these support systems, I help individuals progress towards building a new life.
